Continuing through the dreary landscape

In the morning, there was a cup of coffee and a British 'All Day Breakfast' from the can. I started quite early to avoid the heat, without shade it was a bit difficult...

Along the way, I captured some special things. The moor itself is beautiful, but over time it becomes a bit monotonous. Okay, there are sometimes taller grasses or ferns, then lower grasses and small flowers, but that's about it. Of course, I liked the small, sometimes inconspicuous plants in between, like the rather inconspicuous sundew, a carnivorous plant, but eventually I had seen enough of them as well. However, what was special were the occasional hills in the landscape, like the lonely mountain. I wonder if Smaug is still there? There were also some collapsed buildings where you can only see the foundations. On the other hand, a highlight was a large oak tree, the only tree in the inner part of Dartmoor.

Anyway, I continued following the Two Moors Way until Pupers Hill, which was only about 9 km away this time. If I had gone further, I would have left the area where wild camping is allowed and would have had to hike a long way to reach the next such area.

On Pupers Hill, there is a wonderful rock formation where I set up my tent nearby in the afternoon. I went to drink coffee in the shade of the rocks and had an early dinner. This time, the choice was between baked beans in tomato sauce or spaghetti Bolognese from the can. Since this is the last day in Dartmoor, I decided to have both.

Currently, I am annoyed by billions of small (non-stinging) mosquitoes, but they are only here for about an hour, at least that was the case yesterday.

Since my water and food supplies wouldn't last for more days anyway, I'm going to Newton Abbot tomorrow and from there by train to Exeter, where I have already organized accommodation again.
