The road our new temporary home

The rough plan is to continue driving to Sydney and visit some national parks and other interesting things along the way. After looking at the travel guide, it turned out that there aren't many interesting things to see except for various national parks. So we set off to quickly cover the approximately 1,000 km from Phillip Island to Sydney and head north to the slightly warmer region, as the nights were quite cold at around 5-8°C and it didn't get warmer than 15°C during the day. Our first stop was the Buchan Caves. On the way there, we also saw the first kangaroos and wombats, but unfortunately, they were dead on the side of the road. There were a total of three limestone caves in this area, but only two were open for tourists and visits, as you could only visit them by crawling on your belly. So we visited the Royal Cave. It was very interesting to see what water can create over thousands of years. The distances between the major cities are larger than expected, especially when the landscape doesn't change much, it can be a bit monotonous and my girlfriend often fell asleep in the afternoon on the highway. Driving on the left side of the road is not a big adjustment, except that occasionally the windshield wipers turn on instead of the blinkers, and I once tried to drive the roundabout in the wrong direction xD.

On 05/08, we drove towards Murramarang National Park to go hiking and see wild kangaroos at Pebbly Beach. Unfortunately, we couldn't drive to the hiking trail in the national park because it required a four-wheel drive, and our camper doesn't have that... However, we could drive to Pebbly Beach with our camper. As soon as we arrived, we saw the kangaroos standing/lying on the grass. They weren't shy and were even quite tame. They even followed/chased after my girlfriend because she thought she had food in her bag. It was very funny to see about 10 kangaroos chasing after her.

After another cold night in the camper, it was only about 250 km to Sydney the next day. The night before, we thought about the best way to stay in Sydney, whether in a motel, hostel, or hotel. We found a campsite that takes about 30 minutes by public transport to get to the city center. Since public transportation is much cheaper than in Germany, we decided on this option. On the way to Sydney, we made a stop in Kiama to see the blowholes. When the waves are strong, water shoots out of a hole in the cliffs. It was also quite windy that day, and you would sometimes get wet when the water shot out of the hole (the exact description is in the pictures). Unfortunately, the waves were only strong enough to see it at Little Blow Hole. In the evening, we arrived in Sydney and went to bed early because we had a lot planned in Sydney.
