Day 11 | 28.03.2019 | Savannah - Charleston

If you wake up in Savannah, you are surrounded by a lot of history for American standards. The Civil War raged here and even earlier there were the first settlements of European conquerors. That's why there are many forts here, one right in front of the city on the north bank of the Savannah River.

But first we stopped by a store with a lot of biker history. At Indian Savannah. Very chic and very nice people there. A bit like at OCC but still a bit more original. There were some motorcycle gloves for dad and lots of fancy photos.

Then we headed downtown. The old town is built high above the river and you can take a lift directly down to the water. Down there is the Georgia Queen, a huge paddle steamer. There are also many Irish pubs here, where it will surely be loud and fun in the evenings. But we wanted to continue.

We continued to South Carolina to the Boone Hall Plantation. A 700-acre farm that has already been used for several films and TV productions. "North and South" is the most famous one for me. We also took a tractor carriage ride there. A fantastic estate where you could also learn about the life of the oppressed black population in the 9 slave huts. Exciting.

The plantation is located near Charleston where we stayed overnight today. In the immediate vicinity of our hotel, we treated ourselves to dinner at Sticky Fingers. Super delicious and cozy! That way you can sleep well.
