We thought, discussed, and read for a long time... And after we had to find an alternative for our original destination (Thailand and Oman), we realized more and more that we were drawn south... Love for the Mediterranean... Love for camping... South of France. But is that reasonable? We hesitantly booked three campsites at short notice. Finally, on the evening of June 27th, we started heading south with the car packed to the roof.
On June 28th, we were able to pass the Austrian border without any checks around 5 am, and we had our first small breakfast at half past six in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Finally, around 10 am, we reached Lugano, which we had planned as a longer stopover.
It was warm and spontaneously we took a swim in the beautiful Lake Lugano. But after a longer break, we felt the need to continue.
Italy was supposed to be country number 5 on our route. We paid a brief visit to San Siro in Milan, but quickly moved on. Here, we also didn't want to go without our masks, which were also worn by the Italians.
In the evening, we finally reached our first campsite in Frejus and were completely blown away by Southern France. We quickly used the pool and then prepared dinner - vegetable curry with couscous.
