Elaine and Duncan wanted to spend the next few days at 'Shag Point', a beachside campground for fishing. Although it was not in the direction we were heading, we spontaneously decided to join them.
The weather was supposed to be terrible with rain and storm, but once again we were lucky and the sun was shining!
Mike and Duncan caught some fish every day (herring and butterfish) that we ate for lunch.
We also went to Katiki Point with Duncan, just 15 km away.
There is a lookout point at a lighthouse where you can see seals and penguins.
We had been here about a week ago, but what we didn't know is that at low tide, you can walk to a small island from this point and apparently have great fishing spots.
So, Duncan and I went to this island at low tide and caught another fish (Blue Cod). It started raining and hailing, so we returned.
Duncan also celebrated his birthday during these days, on October 30th. He turned 74, and it was a wonderfully fun day.
One day, Mike even set up a kind of bait for the fish overnight and during the tide using our clothesline, several hooks, and shells.
Unfortunately, Jenny had a bad cold and spent a lot of time in the van during the first two days. But that's just part of it when you spend most of your time outdoors.
Time flew by so fast that we suddenly found ourselves spending Monday to Friday at Shag Point with them, even though we originally planned to stay only one night. We had sooo much fun with them, and we would be happy if they visit us in Germany someday.
