Dali see and go

Argitaratu: 08.01.2023

Our time in Spain is running out. It can't go any further east and just before the border there is culture in double pack.

From Alicante, we went in 2 stages to just before the French border via Valencia (really beautiful!). The last 3 days at Cap de Creus belonged to Mr. Dali. I admit, so far I lacked the intellectual access to his genius. But if you make a little effort and time, you simply cannot ignore being amazed by so much ingenuity, creativity, artistic ability and crazy genius. The man could also paint really well; like every great artist conjure colors, light and shadow on the canvas, experimented with every medium, many eras and styles. He was lucky enough to be able to enjoy his successes. He provoked, experimented and played ... we had fun walking through his house and also through his museum.

Dali was born in Figueres in 1904, survived World War II in France and then worked in America before returning to Port Lligat in 1948. There he lived with his wife Gala until she died in 1982. Then he got into the car and moved to his castle and never returned to the house. Of course, it was genius for posterity. He left everything behind and gave us a realistic insight into his life. Astonishingly enough, the place has been able to preserve much of its dreaminess. In addition, the landscape is really beautiful ... for hiking and dreaming. I took a final farewell walk by the sea and met Micha with the Vitolino at the lighthouse. One last bitterly cold night and then we headed north. We wanted to visit the Dali Museum in Figueres before starting the 3 1/2 hour drive. Here Dali converted and expanded the old theater and gave his hometown a great tourist magnet.

Andorra was our next stop; snowball fight and skiing - that was the plan ...
