Emilia Bittner: "Penguin Parade - Phillip Island Part II"

Argitaratu: 30.10.2019

After we had left Churchill Island we immediately drove to our hostel and had a quick shower to get ready for dinner.

The dinner was an AUSSIE BBQ: The food included potatoes, various salads, chicken, beef, fish and veggie burger patties. While eating something funny happened because Josi dropped a potato in her water glass and Marlene tipped the tea over her pants.

Everyone liked the food very much! 😋

After it finally had got dark, we went out to the beach where the penguins were waiting for us. 🐧 The penguins were very clumsy and on their way to their "houses" they stumbled and fell down all the time.

For all of us this evening was a wonderful experience that no one will forget so quickly. Like the rangers there use to say: "It is magical!"

The next morning we had - compared to the other days - a loooong sleep (until 8:00 😂) and a nice breakfast in the common kitchen.

At 9:30 am we drove to the koala conservation center. We got there a little too early, so we had to stand in front of a locked door for a few minutes. Once the park had opened, we could enter it and discover the wildlife there.

In total, there were ten koalas, nine female and one male.

Unfortunately we were not allowed to hold a koala in our arms but we could get very close to them.

All in all, the stopover on Phillip Island was worth a stay!

The next morning, we were able to sleep in longer compared to the other days and then had a cozy breakfast in the communal kitchen.
