Actually, I wanted to visit a BBQ restaurant in Huntsville. Coincidentally, we found out that there was a restaurant in Decatur owned by Bob Gibson, a multiple national champion and multiple world champion in BBQ sauce and pork.
Since the restaurant was practically on our way to Tupelo, we didn't have to think long.
In the quiet and serene restaurant, we took our seats, and I admired all the awards hanging on the walls. Steffi ordered a combo of ribs, pulled pork, and smoked turkey, along with a salad and mac and cheese. I decided to go for a 4-combo of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and smoked turkey, with mac and cheese and chips. They smoke their meat with hickory wood.
Our food was promptly brought to us by the friendly service, and Steffi was particularly impressed with the salad. The smoked turkey with the white BBQ sauce, which was originally invented by Bob Gibson, was highly recommended and paired excellently with poultry. Steffi couldn't finish her portion but was able to take the rest home and also got a coke to go.
All the meat we ordered was super tender and extremely flavorful. The poultry would literally fall apart just by poking it with a fork. The price-performance ratio was also very good.
As a crowning finale, Steffi had a piece of coconut cake, and I had a piece of chocolate cake. Both were also very tasty.
If you happen to be in the area, you should definitely make a detour here, it's worth it.
