On February 9th, 2017, the day of departure had arrived. I was in complete stress, the household still had to be done and we hadn't even started packing yet. (Oh, and I also baked at the very last minute - blueberry muffins 😍)
My goal was to leave by 3:00 p.m. at the latest. It ended up being close to 4:00 p.m. :-D
After a one and a half hour drive, we arrived at my family's place. Grandma cooked a delicious dinner for us 🍽
Around 7:30 p.m., we headed to what is probably the smallest airport in Germany 🛫 https://www.allgaeu-airport.de/
As if all the morning stress wasn't enough, the first mishap caught up with us there. We were flying with Ryanair and I thought I had taken care of all the baggage regulations. But I was wrong, we had too much luggage. The nice lady at the counter told us that we could take the bag to the security check and then check it in free of charge as additional hand luggage before the aircraft. At the security check, we unfortunately noticed that the bag was filled with all our cosmetics. So one of us had to go back out and check in the luggage again for a fee of €35 and then go through the nice security officers again. The whole procedure took about half an hour, but we were ready for our departure on time. 🤔🙄
I handled the takeoff really well (It's only my third flight and the first time my stomach reacted 🤢) The flight lasted two and a half hours. When the plane started to land, I felt a very painful pressure in my right ear. And there was a thunderstorm. Presumably, my cold in combination with the pressure equalization was not ideal.
We arrived in Porto at 11:00 p.m. and the driver of the shuttle, which we had booked through Booking in advance, was already waiting for us with a sign. He took us to our apartment 🏘
