Day 3: Ode to Joy!

It was finally Monday! A beautiful day. The sun was shining, the sea was calm, and there were no clouds in sight!

Of course, I woke up early again. Who wants to sleep in?!

Julia had found a beautiful beach. The catch? It was located about 90 km behind Makarska. The place was called Brela. By the way, we also noticed that there was a Kaufland supermarket there.

A piece of home in Croatia! So off we went. Just a few kilometers... What's that? Hmmmm.... here in Croatia, it means going uphill, downhill, and an hour and 30 minutes of driving time. Somehow it's always like this here. You get excited that something is only 20 km away and then it takes you 40 minutes to get there??? Damn!

Oh well. The euros needed to be exchanged and Kaufland was waiting for us!

The journey seemed endless. It felt like 100 years later, we finally reached our destination. So we looked for a Raiffeisenbank and exchanged everything we had.

And then we headed to Brela. Finding a parking space turned out to be more difficult than expected. Of course, everyone wants to make money somehow. When we were going down the mountain (surprise, surprise), we noticed many cars parked on the side of the road. So we decided to park in front of a no-parking sign as well. I apologized to Herby again that the view was not as good as from the vacation rental. I don't think the car held it against us 😋. At least it was in the shade.

After a short walk (5 minutes downhill), we saw the beautiful, spacious beach, not overcrowded with Bosnians and really cozy. We found a small bay. There, we had the beach all to ourselves.

This is relaxation.

Nothing could go wrong anymore. And indeed: nothing went wrong!

We have fully arrived.
