Day 27 - Hervey Bay - 09/16/2018
Ahoi friends & family,
There wasn't much exciting to report on our 27th day of travel. Janina and I have been staying at the beautiful and cozy campsite in Hervey Bay for three consecutive days now, and we didn't have much planned for today. After breakfast, we embarked on a campervan cleaning marathon. 'Lui' desperately needed a thorough dusting and wiping. The day before, I had already sorted and stored some things, and today Janina mainly cleaned the floor and surfaces of our van while I dried the dishes and later took care of the trunk. It was already noon and the sun was scorching despite a slight breeze. We had originally planned to spend the whole day at the awesome beach. However, the sun was blazing relentlessly and there was almost no shade. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a parasol in town. Janina laid down on the sand with a towel and let herself tan while reading her book. I huddled in the shade and read some things in our travel guide about our upcoming destination, 'Brisbane'. After a while, my stomach started grumbling again and we headed to the camp kitchen. In the past, I have often wielded the wooden spoon, but today Janina prepared a delicious rice dish with tuna and vegetables, along with a fresh salad. The sun was ready to set and the two of us contacted our families back home via WhatsApp. It's always nice to hear that everything seems to be fine on the other side of the world. We sat in the camper for a while longer, and today Janina graciously gave me a wonderful back and head massage. I love it!! :)
Tomorrow, we plan to move on and drive south along the coast. We are heading to Tin Can Bay...
