War Museum

Argitaratu: 11.02.2018

At the War Museum we learned about the suffering of Cambodia in the last decades. From the Cambodian Civil War to the bloody rule of the Khmer Rouge to the Cambodian-Vietnamese War.

In the museum, we could sit in the tanks or touch old weapons and grenades from the war. Many vehicles, weapons, and equipment had visible bullet holes. We were particularly interested in the rule of the Khmer Rouge, as they were so cold-blooded and cruel towards the people, not only towards their enemies, but also towards the people of Cambodia. They began turning Cambodia into an agrarian state and coldbloodedly killed all people wearing glasses, intellectuals, and children. They even threw babies against trees and set up so-called 'Killing Fields' to kill people with wooden or steel sticks (to save ammunition). They deprived the state of its culture and abolished the currency.
