After only working on the Kiwi Plantation 6 times within two weeks, the job was done for us.
In the meantime, we worked for Miraka again and even helped with the production of the Weight Watchers lasagna for a day. We received two boxes full of lasagna as a gift, which we then sold for $1 in the hostel.
We were already thinking about leaving the hostel and looking for work in another place. But then we received a message!
We now work in a donut factory! Today was our first day and even for a factory job, it was somewhat fun. We have been here in the hostel for 4 weeks already and will stay until Christmas, and maybe even New Year's. Our job at the factory goes until December 23rd, and then we will travel.
Some might say that it's not great to always be in the same place... I can only disagree! It is so beautiful here and we have already met soooo many amazing people from different countries. Every weekend, the entire hostel is in a party mood and everyone has a great time together.
Every Saturday, Janna, Noa, Carla, and I go out for pizza - the highlight of every week!
Now about the earthquake: I received a lot of messages asking if I'm okay or if anything happened to me (very sweet of you).
Fortunately, I am far away from the epicenter. I was fast asleep at the time and didn't notice anything. I heard from two friends who are doing an au pair in Wellington that it was quite intense there. But I didn't experience anything more from the earthquake than you did.
So far, I can only report positive things from New Zealand. Take care and see you soon!
P.S. One-third of the time is already over....
