So, first a quick check of the situation: Berlin... 7 pm... Brisbane... 4 am... and I can't think of anything better than starting with my travel diary, so Jetlag ✔.
I'm lying under Jozy (we're sleeping in a bunk bed ;)) and from her movements (the whole bed creaks and shakes whenever one of us moves), it doesn't seem like she's sleeping well either.
All in all... things are going well for us, I would say.
If it continues like this every night from now on, writing a travel diary will be my least worry... And I thought I didn't have time for it :D.
But now to the important things in life - yesterday it started... 2 years of planning... countless desperate hours of organization and now the day of days is suddenly here - 31.10.2016 - Departure from Berlin to Brisbane. Oh my, and in the last few weeks, I was always most afraid of this farewell.
I survived, but let's not lie, in that moment you just think - why are you doing this shit?
But well, they always say "once you're there...'
After the first 6-hour flight to Abu Dhabi, my enthusiasm for flying was already gone, but we still had 15 hours of flying to Brisbane ahead of us. The airport in Abu Dhabi is supposed to be quite impressive... Well, I don't know, because we had 20 minutes to run to our gate.. Great, so I imagined stretching my legs a little differently... Resting, drinking, eating were not an option, it continued directly... Jozy and I had already noticed before takeoff that we did not have the honor of a window seat - therefore an aisle seat. Yay. I am now a few bruises richer because after the 4th time, I stopped counting how many times the stewardess hit my seat with her trolley.. Yes, apparently the situation on the plane was too tight for her as well - I fully agree with her! So sleeping was practically impossible :D.
"Once you're there...'
We arrived - first a security check with dogs, because of course we were the two random samples that had to undergo an extra drug check... Could it be any different :D.
When we finally left the airport, another disillusionment: rain. Does it have to be like this... But it's warm - at least 25 °C! After the strains, all you wish for is just a quiet bed... But Jozy and I have to pretend to be backpackers.. So off to the hostel and now we're lying here... Sleepless in Brisbane :D
PS: I apologize for any spelling mistakes and weird phrasings... I usually write this at night just before going to bed - I'm not very alert anymore.
