Golden Gate Bridge, Blue Angels and Sausolito on wheels

Sunday, October 8, 2033, day 8

Today it was finally time, we wanted to go on our bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge. So we went to the bay in the morning and rented bikes. By the way, $70 per day per bike. Then we set off and unfortunately didn't get that far because Andrea's bike had a technical problem. After solving the problem, we encountered a second disappointment: for the first time since we were in San Francisco, the Golden Gate was shrouded in fog. Very annoying because not only did we want to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge when the sun was shining, but we would also have liked to see the Navy air show, which is still taking place and which we had already reported on on Friday, without fog. We then cycled north over the Golden Gate Bridge and then came to Sausalito. Sausolito is a small town north of the Golden Gate Bridge that is located on the water and is very pretty, making it a tourist magnet. We sat in the sun in a café and really enjoyed the view, including of Angel Island. We didn't choose the ferry for the way back, but rode our bikes back over the Golden Gate Bridge, especially since the fog had cleared and more sun was shining. We were timed so that we were at the Golden Gate at the same time as the “Blue Angels”. This spectacular US Navy fighter jet squadron flew sensational capers and the six aircraft crossed directly over us in the tightest formation. It was definitely a worthy end to our week in San Francisco. We took the bikes back to the bay and from there walked a short hike through China Town back to the hotel. This time we mainly saw Chinese grocery stores that offer and sell live animals. There were also turtles there, but we would like to spare you the pictures of the de-shelled turtles or the pictures of the filleted frogs.

We did a lot of exercise and sport today and came back to the hotel tired. We skipped dinner and instead ate some cheese and drank cold white wine. Today was our last day in San Francisco, a week has already passed, and tomorrow we'll get the motorhome in the afternoon and start our tour in the motorhome for the next three and a half weeks.
