Willkommen in Zululand

Argitaratu: 22.03.2019

After returning to South Africa and with 4 more stamps in my passport, I headed to Zululand. We stayed in tents in the middle of the jungle in a game reserve. On the first night, zebras peacefully grazed right next to the tent. The soundscape resembled grazing snorting horses, but interrupted by birds and crickets. A hyena called from a distance and the deep growl of a leopard indicated its presence in the immediate vicinity. However, it didn't reveal itself just yet!

On the second day, we had a visit from a small scorpion in the tent, which we were able to release back into the wild.

The small, harmless-looking fluffy millipede with big eyes, on the other hand, left traces on my arm. It turned out the cute little creature's hair was poisonous! 😜

After visiting the oldest national park in South Africa in Hluhluwe, where we saw some rhinos, we went to a Zulu village. There, we were taught about their culture and shown the main houses.

The main currency of the Zulus is cattle, with each woman being worth 11 cattle, so to speak.

Siabonga!
