And every beginning has a magical touch

Argitaratu: 22.11.2016

For the friends of poetry, here is another wonderful poem. The rest can continue reading below and imagine their part.

Hermann Hesse

Steps

Like every flower withers and every youth
gives way to old age, every stage of life blooms,
every wisdom blooms too, and every virtue
in its time, and it cannot last forever.
The heart must be ready for every call of life
to say goodbye and start anew,
to give itself without sadness in
other, new connections.
And every beginning has a magical touch
that protects us and helps us to live.

We should traverse each room cheerfully,
not clinging to any like a home.
The world spirit does not want to bind or confine us,
but to lift and broaden us step by step.
Hardly have we become accustomed to a circle of life,
and settled comfortably, when the laziness threatens.
Only those who are ready to leave and travel
can free themselves from paralyzing habit.

Perhaps even the hour of death will
send us young to new spaces,
the call of life to us will never end...
So, farewell heart, take leave and recover!

Ah yes... such a beautiful poem and so much truth to it. And indeed, the recent times have been magical, so much beautiful hocus-pocus that I am currently wondering why the hell I am actually leaving. That's always how it is. But when life calls, you have to follow it, even if it's scary. Cami said we all have fear, but if we focus on that fear, we will never be able to fly, live carefree, and venture out as I am doing now. So f**k that stupid fear. The new youth word of the year fits well: 'fly sein'. I looked it up, it means 'something or someone is really cool'. So, people, be fly! What else would we do if fear didn't hold us back?

However, the question arises: how can someone who forgets a half-eaten banana in the fridge at work during their vacation week, not to mention food packed in Tupperware, someone who never leaves the house without forgetting something and turning back, actually plan such a trip and survive in the big wide world? And if yes, for how long? And who actually came up with the idea of traveling with only hand luggage? What if it rains and I don't have a proper rain jacket or if my hair becomes brittle and I can't use emergency hair conditioner? Imagine more horror scenarios. I'm not the first one to have such an idea, all the cool professional travel bloggers do it, even if they have to cut off the handle of their toothbrush to save 10g in weight. So far, I'm confident that I can calmly pack everything in my backpack, without chaos, without squeezing, cool and professional. Um, yeah, in a few days, reality will catch up with me.

I'm a little surprised at how well organized I am. It doesn't seem like me at all. I even have a travel pharmacy for a week already, even though I work in a pharmacy and could buy everything at the last minute. Crazy. The fact that I'm taking a travel pharmacy already leans towards the German 'better safe than sorry' mentality, which I never had before. A somewhat strange development, maybe I should unpack something again. Otherwise, I expect that I will panic in the next few days. It will be magical for sure.
