The people in Laos

We had planned to visit a temple as visitors for a short time here in Luang Prabang after a few days. But now everything has turned out differently. We like it here so much that we want to stay in the city until Sunday. Yesterday and today we rented a scooter and explored the surrounding area (great waterfalls, magnificent mountains), so the heat is much easier to bear with the breeze.

The locals also make it really easy to feel comfortable here. They are very nice, always have a smile on their lips, helpful and friendly. Yesterday we were invited for a beer by a Laotian in a very simple café in the countryside and had a nice conversation with some English and a lot of hand and feet. The people we have dealt with so far have been modest and reserved in a pleasant way. Even the tuk-tuk drivers are still friendly and helpful, even if you don't want to ride with them. Although Laos is a very poor country and the villages and buildings look accordingly, the people seem to be very satisfied with their lives.

The plant world here is surprisingly diverse and exotic for us Europeans. Many shrubs on the roadside and in the forests I know at home as a mini version in our flower pots. We try all kinds of fruits (no roasted insects!) and ask how to eat them at the markets. Recently we tested durian, according to the market woman the queen of fruits, and it wasn't super delicious, but also not that bad. You can google it - jungle camp greetings and greetings from us too!
