G'day! Aloha, as they say here.
We are in Hawaii now. It's really nice to eat here. Well, Hawaii is of course not one place, but rather it consists of several islands.
First we went to O'ahu. That's where Honolulu is. And Waikiki. But my two older ones preferred not to stay there for the two nights we had on O'ahu. They said there was far too much going on for them. Instead we stayed in the north of the island near Turtle Bay. And we drove around there for a day too.
Wooaaahhh, there is so much great sea here! And amazing views!
And there are places everywhere where you can still find the old Hawaiian culture and traditions.
From O'ahu we continued to Kauai. This is the so-called garden island. Everything is so green here and such impressive landscapes and green, high, pointed mountains! My older ones said this reminds them of La Réunion. I've never been there, but if they say that, it must be true. It probably also has something to do with the volcanic origin of both islands. In any case, there is also quite a lot of water here:
And we also have great sunrises here - when it doesn't rain. Just look:
We really like our accommodation in Anahola. So nice and quiet here. Well, except for the omnipresent wild roosters that can be heard everywhere on the island:
My oldest was also very happy when he saw the black covered part on the terrace - which is called the lanai here, by the way.
And yesterday Saskia and Simon arrived here. My older ones always say “the children.” The two of them are no longer children. I was a little surprised at first. I was already wondering how two children could make the long journey from Germany to here all by themselves. They tricked me quite a bit, my grown-ups.
In any case, I had already heard a lot about them and now I was finally able to get to know them better. I really like them a lot. Of course, they had a bonus right from the start because my older ones also like them so much. I haven't asked them yet if I can show a picture of them here. So I'll leave that for now. We'll be traveling together for a while. In any case, my older ones were really happy to see them both.
And today we drove around together to look at the island.
Unfortunately the weather was quite wet. And even though it rains a lot here - especially in the north - it was a bit of a shame that we couldn't see the sea or the impressive mountains really well because of the fog, rain and clouds.
But never mind. Tomorrow it will be better again. My oldest then goes diving with Simon. I'm really excited to see how they both like it. And my oldest will have a good time with Saskia and me in the meantime. Let's see what we'll experience there. There are still some great things coming up here on Kauai. Wait and see what comes next.
Of course I will continue to report to you.
Until then, lots of love and warm greetings from Travis the Buddy Bear
