For a change, this morning I was able to pack up a dry tent and start a little later. When you spend several days camping in one place, things somehow spread out much more than usual. So packing up takes a little longer.
Then I continued, always following the D010 towards Georgia. It's a fantastic road that winds its way along the coast through the coastal mountains.
At first, it was very well-built and four lanes wide, but soon that changed. The road became narrower and narrower, the condition went from excellent to poor, sometimes very poor. You have to drive constantly focused. Oncoming traffic comes racing around the corners at crazy speeds and loves to cut the curves, potholes big enough to hide children in. Curves adorned with gravel and dirt, and last but not least, turtles crossing the road.
I managed an amazing 160 km, with an average speed of 45 km/h.
Then in the early afternoon, I looked for a hotel. My back is starting to cause problems. A nasty tension keeps forcing me to stop. As soon as I get off the bike, the pain in my thoracic vertebrae goes away. A few stretching exercises and then I can continue for a few kilometers, and then the same game starts again.
If it doesn't improve, I will have to take a few days off and then start the journey home.
