Atacama & Salar de Uyuni

Avaldatud: 24.01.2018

WOW!!!

After Valparaiso, we visited San Pedro de Atacama and the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Valle de la Luna and Geiser del Tatio in Atacama are very beautiful.

Then we took a three-day excursion with a Jeep. We enjoyed the nature in southern Bolivia with the following main attractions:

• Laguna Blanca and Verde

• Geysir del Tatio

• Laguna Colorada

• Siloli Desert

• Laguna Negra

• Salar de Uyuni

Our group consisted of Macarena, Edith, Gustavo, and Dino and it was truly great! Thank you for a good time.

San Pedro de Atacama:

We felt like we were in a 'moon landscape'. It really felt like being in another world 👽😀

This reminded me of the Americans in the sixties thinking they had landed on the moon in this desert 😉

The next day, we visited the Geysir del Tatio, the world's highest geysers. We started early and took some beautiful pictures with the sunrise.

We also saw an active volcano from afar, but didn't get too close ⛰

Uyuni:

Thanks to Mr. Kummer's recommendation, we took a three-day tour from San Pedro to Uyuni in Bolivia. It has been my personal highlight so far. The nature is so diverse and fascinating, it's hard to put into words. We saw different lagoons, more geysers, and rock formations. We did the whole trip with a small group, a driver, and a 4x4 Jeep. There are no roads there, everything is off-road and very bumpy. We also had to deal with the altitude, as the air gets thin at 5000 meters above sea level. Drinking Coca tea (not the white powder) helped us recover quickly 😆

But the best part came last, the Salar de Uyuni. It is the largest salt flat in the world and is about as big as a quarter of Switzerland. Driving in a Jeep over the flat, covered with a layer of water, is unique. It's like walking on a mirror - fantastic 😃😃
