Chapter 4: Test trip with family

Wow! Already the first real travel report! I can hardly believe it myself.

Well, our first trip was of course not yet a 'David and Lotti's great journey' trip. Because at first we were still accompanied by David's grandparents, his aunt, his cousin, his parents, and his three siblings. But of course, not everyone fit in our Rosti. There were three more, less rusty and rented RVs in which we moved through France. David's grandpa Alfred had carefully planned the route beforehand and sketched it out on a map for us.

Our stops were:

- a campground near Saarbrücken

- the backyard of a winemaker in Fleys (Champagne)

- a campground in front of the Château d'Amboise (Val de Loire)

- a parking lot at the Atlantic in Piriac-sur-Mer (Brittany)

- an even more beautiful pitch at the Atlantic in Nevez (Brittany)

And we also discovered some beautiful places on our way back through northern France, for example a beautiful castle in the village of Fougères (Brittany).

Of course, we also have a lot to tell about living in the RV. So much that not everything fits in here. But I'll try to capture the essentials:

The fact that we didn't have running water (broken pump, see last post) didn't bother us much, as you can get 5-liter water canisters for very little money in every supermarket in Germany and France. Furthermore, we could be sure that the water was clean and hygienic. To make dishwashing easier, we also bought a small spray bottle (David even showered with it!).

Cooking and heating worked perfectly fine, and since we were frugal with gas, the bottle wasn't even empty when we returned.

The bed in the alcove was of course tighter than usual, but still very comfortable. Setting it up and taking it down twice a day is a bit tiring, but definitely worth it.

Unfortunately, I can only provide a few cellphone pictures so far, as we still have to develop and digitize the pictures from our camera. But as soon as that's done, I'll upload them here immediately.

Until then!

Best regards,

David, Lotti, and Rosti
