09-12-19: Arrival in Chile

After 11,000 km and 14 hours of flight, happily landed in Santiago de Chile. The flight was very pleasant because it was unusually quiet on the plane. Landed at 20:15 local time. Immigration went super fast. The kindness of the border officials was remarkable. I got a little nervous at the baggage carousel. But it was unfounded. The airport reminds me of Berlin Schönefeld in terms of overall size and therefore cramped. The short distances are nice,

By 21:00, we had our luggage, got some cash, pushed through the waiting crowd at the airport, and were in a taxi towards the hotel.

The friendliness of the Chileans is great as they treat foreigners. However, it is also these friendly Chileans who immediately warn you of high crime rates. The stores are barricaded after 22:00 in the evening and the streets become more and more deserted.

Another sandwich and a beer and then off to bed. You can feel the time difference of only 4 hours.
