In Tofino, it continues to rain in the morning as we wake up...🌧🌧🌧 It's less than yesterday, but it only intermittently stops throughout the day... Therefore, we only make brief stops on the left and right of the highway during our approximately 350 km journey today. So, long story short:
1: Radar Hill (World War Observation Hill) with 'Lookout Belvédère' 😅 Unfortunately, we can't see all the way to Japan.
2: At Long Beach (No, not California 😅) there aren't too many surfers to see today... but at least we were briefly at the beach. Unfortunately, we saw little else in the sun from the Pacific Rim 🤷♂️
3: On the Forest Trail, we walk one of the two loops through the rainforest.🌲🌳🌿🌱
Side fact: There is a roughly 40 km long bike path 🚴♂️ from Tofino to Ucluelet right alongside the highway. Mega well paved!!!
4: We make a stop at the 'Hole in the wall' - a hole about 5-8m (diameter) wide in a stone wall, created by water.
5: One last waterfall: 'Little Qualicum Falls', we walk the lovingly designed loop from the bottom to the top of the waterfall and back on the other side. Here we see the American strawberry tree (Arbutus), which sheds its thin, very red bark in strips. There are thin red shreds lying around everywhere. We therefore also nickname the tree 'Sausage Tree' 🤣🤣🤣
When we reach the cities of Nanaimo and later Victoria, we get our first feeling of city civilization again after 3 weeks. Situation: Wild!😅
We are greeted by a super cute accommodation in the north of Victoria (North Saanich) right by the airport with goats and chickens outside the window.🐐🐔 Nicely furnished and we feel right at home. Since we cooked yesterday, our dinner is ready in 5 minutes 😅💪
We are also planning a bit for our day tomorrow in Victoria as well as our last full day in Vancouver on Wednesday 👌
Good night and please no more rain tomorrow 😅
