The North Coast of Máncora (Peru)

Avaldatud: 24.02.2023

From Chachapoyas, we took the night bus to Chiclayo over the mountains and from there another 7 hours north.

Out of the rainy Andes and into the sunny Máncora, a small town on the Peruvian North Coast. It is particularly known for surfers, but you can also enjoy relaxing days at one of the many beaches. Since we are close to the equator, the Pacific has the perfect bathing temperature of about 24 degrees Celsius.

We didn't miss out on the dreamy sunsets. We spent the warm nights with some friends at a bonfire and a few beers on the beach or in one of the numerous restaurants in town.

From Máncora, you can easily explore the surrounding area. Simply hop on one of the many buses and either head north to Punta Sal, where the most beautiful beaches in Peru await you, or take the bus south. There you can spend a good day in Los Organos. However, it is best to start all activities in the afternoon, as the midday heat is brutal and the siesta is taken very seriously here.

The landscape here resembles a desert and is again a strong contrast to the green, cooler Andes.
