From Plön to Weseby

After a refreshing swim in the lake and a big cup of coffee, I continue to Kiel. It's only 25 km from here, not far anymore.

Finally, I reach the open water again. Large ships are anchored in the Bay of Kiel. I am overwhelmed! I cross a drawbridge, everything is so interesting. And the dear God is on my side. The sun has been shining every day so far, it's pleasantly warm, and the breeze feels refreshing.

On my way to Eckernförde, I cross the canal that leads from the Baltic Sea over the old Levensau High Bridge. It's very impressive. In Eckernförde, I pass by a sandy beach that doesn't initially look inviting to me. But in the harbor and the small alleys, I feel very comfortable again. A large seagull lands right in front of my feet. A magnificent specimen.

Tomorrow, I want to be in Flensburg to possibly meet a friend of a good friend of mine. So, I continue in that direction. And like every evening, I face the challenge of where to spend the night. Along the way, there are lakes here and there. I try twice, but in vain, to get to the water. I push the bike with the trailer over rough terrain, only to turn back because I can't proceed. The fact that almost all the lakes here are privately owned... that's quite unfortunate!

Lake No. 3: There is only one public access to the water. The path is steep downhill, narrow, but I accept the challenge and hope to find a suitable spot for swimming and camping. I park my vehicle near a tree and walk the final stretch down to the water. It's only a few meters. Well, if all the bathers have disappeared from here, I might dare to set up my camp here, I think to myself. On the way back to my bike, I start a conversation with two older ladies. They are surprised that I have traveled so far from Munich to here. One of the ladies tells me that I can camp for a night near here at the Schlei. The municipality allows it. Great, I think. Now I just have one question: Is there also water to drink? The two ladies offer to fill my bottles with water, they ask me to follow them. Eventually, one of them even suggests that I could spend the night in their garden cabin. It's comfortably furnished like a guest room. The woman is so kind! She prepares some food for me as well. We spend a lovely evening together. And once again, I am so grateful!
