Turku was only a short experience for us - the night before we spent in a beautiful secluded place in the middle of the forest and then went directly to the city. The hustle and bustle, the loud traffic, the intense heat, and the many people were quite a shock for us - we were still used to the solitude of Lapland with its relaxed Finnish small towns. And now we were in the middle of the market square in the second largest city in Finland, had a parking space for 30 minutes - 2 euros, and had no idea what we actually wanted to do here. Yes, of course, see the city, but like this? No. So first we went to the tourist information office to get some useful tips. We got them (including a free parking space) and went for a walk from the castle to the church, always along the river and back through the city center. Since I (Anne) liked Tampere so incredibly much, Turku had a hard time captivating me. It is a classic big city, has a beautiful river, an interesting castle... but it is quite hectic and loud with a lot of traffic. In the evening we continued towards Helsinki.
