After our little stop at the gun range, we set off to find our last accommodation for our trip. We had booked it again through Air BnB and this time the accommodation was top-notch, of course. We had booked a room in a private apartment again. However, the residents were not yet home, so we had the house to ourselves for a while. We unloaded our luggage and then drove directly to Jericho Beach, which was a 15-minute drive from our accommodation. The weather was so beautiful and we wanted to see the sea again.
Back at the accommodation, we got ready to go out. Interestingly, a colleague of Luke's was also in Vancouver at the time, as he was currently on a study abroad program there. So we met up with him and a few of his friends in the evening. We took the bus to downtown, which was quite amusing. Unfortunately, we didn't know beforehand that we could only pay for the bus with coins, and we had hardly any left. But the bus driver was very relaxed about it and asked us to just throw in the coins we had left and take a seat. For us, this was totally unusual, in Germany something like this would never work if you can't pay the exact amount down to the cent. We also noticed that along the way, people would occasionally ask if they could ride the bus but they didn't have any money at the moment. No problem in Canada, ride for free :D
Then we met up with the colleague and a few other people and went for a drink. The evening was really nice. Actually, that was the only day we went out drinking in the evening. Otherwise, we were always too exhausted from the long days, and besides, you can't afford to do that every day anyway...
We of course took the bus back as well, and since we still didn't have enough coins, it was the same game again :D And so we almost rode the bus for free. But in Canada, people are generally much more relaxed about many things compared to Germany.
It's hard to believe that tomorrow is already our last day. We've been here for three weeks now, and the day after tomorrow we'll fly back to Germany... But before we think about the final farewell, we'll go to Squamish again tomorrow! We want to make up for our missed ride on the Sea to Sky Gondola, which we couldn't do the first time due to the horrible weather. And we'll also meet up with Luke's brother there before we leave.
