California Highway 1

Today we had to pack our suitcases and go to Monterey. We only got 1.7 miles, then nothing worked anymore. There was some kind of demonstration on Hayes Street and SF was divided. No way to get to the entrance of the highway that was right in front of us🙄 Luckily, after almost 2 hours of driving slowly in circles, the roadblock in front of us was lifted and the traffic started moving again. We left SF and went straight to California Highway 1🥰 Maps wanted to send us on a detour, but noooooo. Karl disappeared pretty soon and we could enjoy the view and the drive along the Pacific in the beautiful weather. We took a break at Panther Beach and explored the area on foot. Even the descent to the beach was an experience. A narrow footpath, with some rocks polished smooth by wind and sand, led down. But it was worth it😍 I can only say, no words, look at the pictures😅
Then we went directly to the motel with a short stop at Walmart. The Americas Best Value Presidents Inn on Munras. Room with a small terrace right by the pool. Quite nice. After inspecting the room, we headed to the harbor for dinner. That's it for today.
