Day 55: Yallingup - Cape Naturaliste (Whale Lookout Walk, Sugarloaf Rock) - Busselton

Avaldatud: 07.11.2018

The kids wake up at 7 am. After almost 2 months of traveling, we are not as eager to explore and our schedule for our last week in Australia is not as packed as before, so we decide to just go with the flow. We cuddle, read, play, and joke around...

Samuel wants to have breakfast outside today. Since the sun is shining, we fulfill his wish. But it doesn't turn out to be a cozy breakfast. Just as we set everything up and start eating, clouds roll in and it starts raining. So we move the breakfast inside the camper.

We go to the beach playground again. Elija takes a nap while the older kids have fun. As a final activity, they play hide and seek with Dad, which is currently very popular.

Around noon, we head to Cape Naturaliste. We walk the 2.6 km round trip to the Whale Lookout. It's a beautiful and easy trail with great views. At the lookout, we can see whales in the distance and seals. We continue to Sugarloaf Rock, a rock formation in the ocean. There, we have our late lunch and cook ham noodles with a wonderful view. Since we are quite hungry from our hike, we devour a decent portion.

Originally, we planned to continue to Bunbury today with a stop in Busselton to visit the Jetty. But since it's already 3:30 pm, we decide to change our plans and head to Mandaly Holiday Resort in Busselton. It's a top-notch resort, although not cheap (our camp neighbors have huge shiny cars and caravans, making our not-so-small Maui look a bit tiny), but it offers a lot. Especially the kids are in for a treat today. After our arrival, we go for a swim in the indoor pool. Since the slide is outdoor and the temperature is only 15 degrees Celsius, we only slide down once and move our swimming activities indoors.

After a thorough wash in the private family bathroom, we cook roast pork with sauerkraut and potatoes. Since the older kids didn't nap during the day, they fall asleep quickly tonight.
