Paul, here we come!

Avaldatud: 27.02.2024

I never thought I would travel to Mexico just to see my son again. It's been a year since he danced with Odette on my birthday. Shortly afterwards they left and now I'm sitting on the plane with his father. 3 weeks together... the whole Zimmermann family. If someone had predicted this to me, I would have doubted their knowledge of human nature. And, I should have stayed true to myself!!! How could I believe that I would get past Dietmar's chaos unscathed???

HH Airport, check-in, Dietmar realizes that his passport is probably still in Schwerin. I can not believe it. His buddy takes him up the pass in his car, breaking all speed records. The young man at check-in owes his first gray hair to Dietmar. Then there's this terrible ESTA form, which you have to submit to the US authorities even if you don't leave the transit area. Hardly any passengers had prepared it correctly. I would never have believed that Dietmar would end up sitting next to me on the plane to London.

When we arrived in London, the first thing we had was a delicious red wine from the duty-free. That was important for my nerves. When Dietmar got the second bottle, the salesman looked a bit puzzled and explained to exactly the wrong person that you are not allowed to drink alcohol at the airport - too late. But Dietmar didn't ignore the smoking ban and suffered from withdrawal.

Maybe it was because I had déjà vu when I entered New York (we never left the airport). We slowly advance in line towards the control desk and what was missing??? Dietmar's Pass. I had now decided on a film because it would be too stupid and too flat for me. In reality, I had to come to terms with it somehow. The cleaning crew brought the passport with them and Dietmar was there again, smiling... everything worked out.

Anyone leaving must also go through the entire check-in process again. It's just a good thing we had so much time to stay. 7 hours later we flew south past the Statue of Liberty into the sunrise. Almost 6 hours with one row of seats for each of us - luxury. You can sometimes go without food; There are no longer any on the plane. The landscape had nothing to offer other than fields for the next 4 hours. Only shortly before Phoenix did it become deserted and mountainous, a bit of a feast for the eyes.

Last short change, completely relaxed, 1 hour to Hermosillo, just enough time to fill out the Mexican immigration papers and then finally - 40 hours later - we can hug Paul & Odette. Our quarters are nice, the food is delicious and the temperatures are midsummer. A first tour of the city and quickly up the mountain to look down. So here we are...in Sonora. Who would have thought.

Beate
