Magnetic Island

We take an early morning ferry to Magnetic Island and continue by bus to the other side of the island. I love taking buses in Australia, you often get to talk to locals.... 'where do you come from?' is always the start. Here's another Australian who doesn't like Sydney at all! The American next to him joins in and tells us about his previous tour!

It's really fun!!!

We're excited about our huge apartment - 3 bedrooms! How nice! And the best part: it's only 1 minute from the beach! We're really enjoying that!

The island is very nice - 12 bays - ours has a street with small shops and restaurants - all very lovingly done!!

We eat fish and chips - enjoy the beach and meet up with friends from the rainforest house for sunset! Interestingly, they have an apartment only 2 minutes away from ours! After the sunset, we have dinner together, see many funny birds and tree kangaroos.... it's a really nice evening!

The next morning we sleep in, have breakfast and spend the day at the beach AND in the water - some of the time together with our friends. It's wonderful and it does us all good!

During lunch, we chat with a couple from Sydney at one of the picnic spots, who spend their winters here. They don't like Sydney at all! Too big, too crowded, too hectic.... 😳

We take the ferry back on Sunday evening - and we're already looking forward to the program of the next few days!!

Snorkeling on Monday and on Tuesday we go sailing on an old Dutch ship!
