Centennial Park / Atlanta

Avaldatud: 23.02.2022

When you feel your feet at the end of the day, you know we weren't idle. We drove from our hotel (Comfort Inn Airport International) to Atlanta Midtown, it was just a stone's throw away on the interstate.

We managed to get two tickets for Coca-Cola World for just $40. Unfortunately, there was no free Coke for a welcome drink, it seems they're saving money here too. But other than that, it was once again a trip into a world of happiness and worth every penny. Oh, and even the tasting of the world's flavors has been reduced to a smaller selection, too bad. Nevertheless, we felt sick, tip: stay away from the Chinese plum Fanta... Quote from Nadine: super gross, really bad. Almost 3 hours in the World of Coca-Cola that were definitely worth it.

I haven't said anything about the weather yet, it was great. Almost 20 degrees and finally no rain. Nevertheless, we decided to go to the Georgia Aquarium next door. It was the largest aquarium in the world during construction and still very worth seeing today. We got the tickets at the terminal. $87.02 for both of us, but also worth every penny. An impressive educational indoor amusement park. First, we entered a kind of central atrium from which we could reach all the attractions in a star-shaped pattern. Sharks, alligators, penguins, octopuses, poisonous frogs, and fish in all colors and shapes from all over the world. Of course, everything was perfectly staged, as I am used to in the USA.

We also registered online for 3 shows free of charge. A dolphin show, a 4D movie about octopuses, and a sea lion show. That set the schedule for the afternoon. And we had a unique afternoon. We stayed there for over five hours and had a lot of fun.

We probably made a mistake regarding parking. We parked not far from the Ferris wheel in an outdoor parking lot. That cost us a whopping $20 at the end of the day. We could have parked in the aquarium's own parking garage for a fraction of the cost. Well, next time...

We wanted to reward ourselves for dinner, so we drove about 6 miles to the east of Atlanta and ate at an Outback Steak House. However, our appetite was clearly much bigger than our hunger... it was delicious, but we're sooooooo full now.

That's why we're going to bed now, and tomorrow we'll continue heading south, but only in small steps for now. See you tomorrow...
