So the weather hasn't improved. Still rain, rain, rain and quite cold!
But, we will remember this day for a long time!
We left Seattle late, so we decided to drive only a few kilometers and book an AirBnB accommodation near the ferry. That's what we did, but unfortunately the hostess forgot to confirm our booking. She sent us the access codes for the front door and co. but unfortunately we didn't have the address of the house or her phone number. Since we roughly knew the area we had to go to, we still set off. Before going downhill again, we compared the pictures from AirBnB and tried to recognize the surroundings or find out which houses are in the background.
We must have looked really desperate in our search, because after a short time a neighbor came over to us and offered his help. Unfortunately, he couldn't see anything from the photos either. But he offered us a beer while we waited for a message from our host.
So we went into his driveway, where his wife was already waiting and said very warmly: Oh! You came just in time! Dinner just got ready!! You must definitely eat with us!
So we were served the finest food! But that wasn't all! We followed Jon into the basement to get the promised beer - there he proudly showed us his own beer brewery! Amazing! Mex was so excited, he still can't believe it today! We got the different varieties to taste and they were all delicious! (even I, as a non-beer drinker, have to admit)
Every year Jon and Teri organize an Oktoberfest at their house - with their own brewed beer. We already announced ourselves for next year. Haha!
Well, anyway, the two of them were also very interested in our trip and then said in the conversation 'Oh!! Wait!! Our neighbor would be thrilled! He is the absolute biking fan!! You HAVE to meet him!' And so Teri called him. It didn't take 10 minutes for Tim and his wife to be there and we talked for a long time about the best routes in the area and which roads to avoid.
Tim (the neighbor) has always dreamed of cycling to San Francisco too, and would have liked to join us right away ;-)
Well, in the end they knew which house our AirBnB accommodation was by looking at the photos, and then they accompanied us there.
Inside, we met a really nice Frenchman who gave us all his food because he was going home the next day. Amazing! You really believe that the day couldn't get any more incredible! And then...
...then we come down from the room a little later, and the Frenchman says that someone has hung something on our bike for us. We go outside, check... indeed! Tim (the bike-loving neighbor from earlier) was there and gave us 2 bike shirts!
UNBELIEVABLE! UNBELIEVABLE! UNBELIEVABLE!!!
We really can't believe it! ;-)
The people here are so incredibly hospitable and nice!
We will definitely not forget this day soon!
