Impressive tour around Lake Kummerow

Eldonita: 24.09.2020

After a fantastic night without any disturbances, we started our bike tour well-rested. Today, we went around Lake Kummerow. We drove to the starting point in Malchin by car. From the parking lot, we continued on our bikes. At the beginning of our tour, it was still quite chilly and cloudy. However, the weather changed and the sun came out after half of the kilometers we had ridden. There was also a beautiful castle on our route. Behind the castle, there was a small playground. Daniela and I tried out some playground equipment and had a lot of fun. Ah, it was wonderful :-).

I was looking forward to the place called Aalbude. I had read that we had to take a ferry for a short distance. Finally, we arrived there and I said to Daniela, 'what, just a short distance across to the other side?' Hmm, that was a joke, but since we can't walk on water yet, we had to cross the 11 meters. It didn't even take a minute. But we had to pay 7.20 euros for this crazy crossing.

Shortly after the crossing, there were moor areas to the right and left of us. From an observation tower, you could see various bird species and had a breathtaking view of the landscape. Some hobby photographers with huge lenses were also at the tower, looking through their mega large cameras. An older couple stared through binoculars and were totally excited about what they saw. We were also very impressed - the extraordinary birds and the various grasses, reeds, and pipes around the numerous small lakes. It looked amazing. This time, Daniela even discovered something: a big frog hopping across the path. She was totally thrilled and said, now I have also seen something first :-))) not a snake, but at least a Kermit. Behind this beautiful landscape, we continued through a small forest area. The smell of the fir trees was divine :-))). I always said, smell it, isn't it great! Pure nature! We were really satisfied with ourselves and the route.

In a quaint little town with a small harbor, we enjoyed ourselves on the sunny terrace of a harbor bar. Fully refreshed, we now wanted to enjoy the last 12 kilometers.

Suddenly, a wire-haired dachshund ran along a highway on the right side and I thought, please don't run onto the road. Hmmmm, he did and a car almost hit him. Terrible. I called him and he ran towards us. He was very friendly and had his name and a phone number on his collar. Artos, that's what the little one was called, was secured with Littlefoot's leash. Then Daniela dialed the number. But no one answered. Very annoying. We walked with Artos and our bikes to the next house. A woman was already coming towards us. She said, oh, Artos runs away more often. I was really upset. Because the dog was lucky not to get run over and then we hear that he runs away often - unbelievable. Then the owner called back on our phone and was with us in less than 5 minutes. She was totally out of it, but not because of the dog, but because she babbled about properties and an appointment at the bank....blah, blah, blah. Then she noticed Littlefoot in her bike basket and said, oh, I need something like that too, then I can always have my dog with me. She asked me where she could buy such a basket and then started talking about something completely different. Daniela just said, we're not interested in all that, please take care of your dog, he almost got run over. She took out a fifty euro bill and wanted to give it to us. Help, no, we didn't accept the money. Then she wanted to offer us a free vacation home with meals. We got on our bikes and said, no thank you, just take better care of your little sweetheart!!!! Of course, that was then our topic of conversation. Daniela suspected that the woman had a little tipsy. Hmm, I had no idea!

We rode back to Malchin at a leisurely pace and took a look at the town center. The town hall and the city gate were worth seeing.

We really enjoyed the tour because the landscape offered something completely new compared to the previous days.
