A short drive takes us from Fairlie to Ashburton. After another half an hour on a gravel road, we reach our destination for today. We assume that only a few people venture here. But 'Campermate' has led some to this remote spot without reception. The view of the ocean and the countless breeding birds is amazing.
The temperature and weather are perfect, so we sit outside, read, and play Yahtzee until late after sunset.
We have to pay for our recklessness. Just because there are no venomous animals here, doesn't mean the camper can stay open for hours... It's swarming with mosquitoes, resulting in a chase until midnight and a restless night.
