From Alajuela, we now drive about 3 hours to the beautiful little town of La Fortuna.
La Fortuna translates to 'The Luck' and is located 6 kilometers from the Arenal Volcano - a small town with a picturesque setting, a dream!
Arenal is the most active and youngest volcano in Costa Rica, also one of the most active volcanoes worldwide. No lava has been flowing since October 2010!
We walk to the Catarata Río Fortuna, the La Fortuna Waterfall.
We hike 1.5 hours through the beautiful landscape and are very impressed by the plants, the tranquility, and the views!
The La Fortuna Waterfall drops about 75 meters and is located at the foot of the dormant Chato Volcano.
There is also great food,
cute little dogs,
and beautiful money that you actually don't want to spend!
Finally, we feel similar to August when the Taliban took over Afghanistan - we are shocked, speechless, horrified, angry, and sad. Our thoughts are with Ukraine and our friends in Georgia, who have already experienced this in 2008 and now fear for the future. We are also grateful to have so much time here that we can afford to be lethargic for a few days and feel no pressure to experience something new every day. Love goes out to Ukraine, Georgia, and all the people protesting against the war ❤
