The next few days we spent doing Balinese wood carving and visiting temples.
I found wood carving to be a really cool thing and I will definitely continue practicing it. Mr. Ada's studio is amazing. It is not particularly big, but each statue is unique. For some statues with a size of 4 meters, he and his team need 1 to 2 years, depending on inspiration I suppose. There are many unfinished projects on the floor, some already 9 or 10 months old. Artists.
After our course, we went to the homestay and from there to a Balinese gamelan. It is a combination of traditional Balinese music and dance performances by women and men. Such events take place here very often. I even think daily in different places. Ubud is rich in culture, there is a wood carver, painter or some other artist on every corner. The atmosphere is amazing, in my opinion. Luckily, we extended our stay.
The next day, we went on a tour to the rice terrace, where the farmers like to rip you off and to the Holy Spring Temple. There, if you are dressed appropriately, like we were, you can go into the water and wash yourself with fresh spring water. It is really refreshing in the heat. But for the Balinese, it is holy water and you should behave appropriately because they pray there. We also visited other temples and waterfalls, but my girlfriend wasn't feeling well, so we went home early.
The next few days, we stayed at the homestay and explored Ubud. You don't have to do much here to keep busy :D
