After two exhausting days full of experiences and intermediate goals in Fort William, today is a rest day. But let's start from the beginning. After the Susicabin rescue in Kingshouse, we made our way to Kinlochleven. And with us, not only West Highland walkers, but hundreds of cross-country runners who wanted to cover our distance of 3 days in a few hours. Devil O'the Highlands Footrace, 42 miles (68 km) from Tyndrum to Fort William in a few hours. Not for us. It would mess up the whole vacation plan. Otherwise, gladly 😃! After a few comfortable meters, things got serious. Devil's Staircase calls for an ascent. 550m! The highest point of the West Highland Way. Great joy at the summit and then descent to Kinlochleven. Great campsite, replenishing supplies, weather rainy. A few days ago we met a young man. Leon, 24 years old, from Minden. Just finished his dental studies in Vienna and is on his way to making many people happy. If you're reading this, Leon, thanks again for lots of great, interesting exchange, fun, and shared hiking miles. We were impressed by how confident, reflective, and curious you managed everything!
Yesterday was the last stage to Fort William for many walkers, but for us it was just an intermediate goal this time. Here, all the qualities of a walker are demanded once again. 25 km starting with an ascent of 300m, then impressive meters through mountains and valleys with great cloud animations and even a 🌈 Arriving in Fort William. The body signals 'Please finish'! While many walkers happily enjoyed the finisher photo, we turned off to our accommodation. We had to tackle another 1.6 miles. But we were rewarded with a great accommodation. John and Adrian gave us a very warm welcome. Great room, view of Ben Nevis, space to dry the tent, and breakfast delivered to the room. We really enjoyed that today, then we paid a visit to Fort William and took care of various things. It's also time to give the body some rest. Because......
Tomorrow we start again.
GREAT GLEN WAY!
Discovering new paths. We're excited and hopefully you'll be there too.
Quote: It's good Scottish weather, the rain falls almost vertically, only slightly inclined to the side.
