Day 10, from Maspalomas to Agüimes

Day 10, Monday 13.2.2023, from Maspalomas to Agüimes

Today the mood is a bit dampened, in the true sense of the word, the Calima sandstorm makes the sky gloomy (see 5th photo).

We leave our hotel of the last 3 nights and leave Maspalomas shortly after 10:00, and we all agree that we don't want to miss these wonderful 2 days at the beach and that it was worth seeing the dunes. But we also agree that we probably won't come here again, unless our vacation style changes and we prefer pool loungers (not the pool, no one goes in there), all inclusive and a minimal radius with the dining room in the center.

So we are on our wire dromedaries and are on our way back to Lanzarote. We still have ahead of us: 2 days on the bike, 1 day expedition by car to the mountains in Gran Canaria, and 1 night on the ferry from Las Palmas to Arrecife.

Today we rode a relatively short distance of 30 km, but quite fast (1.5 hours) and still over 500 meters in altitude. This has given us time to check in early at our country house accommodation and explore the really cute town of Agüimes, and even grab a salad as a lunch snack. Our accommodation today is special, with a beautiful courtyard and a sad macaw 🦜, who is very sad because they used to be a pair, but the other macaw was stolen 😡
