Departure

The farewell party was really great. Sonja, Maja, Finn and Steffen made me very happy. Thank you very much. Also to everyone who called me to wish me a good time.

I hardly slept at all.

I got up at half past three. The whole time I think I might have forgotten something essential. Is there any reason not to leave today? It's strange to leave my phone at home. But now it is. I only have my travel outdoor block with me. With a new number and without WhatsApp.

Sonja is taking me to the train station and we say goodbye at the train. I've never had such a hard time leaving before. I already miss her and I'm looking forward to picking her up from the airport in Crete and hiking together.

The train today doesn't go as planned to Spiez in Switzerland, but only to Basel. So I decide to take the next train to Milan already in Basel. In Milan, I then take the Frecciarossa to Florence. On the way, I already found accommodation.

I am staying in a former monastery. A 6-bed room, which I will have all to myself at least for the first night. Then I enjoyed the sunset on the Arno with my last schnitzel sandwich and a bottle of wine from the German Railway and afterwards I'm totally exhausted and go to bed.
