The first few days

Eldonita: 15.07.2016

After a long, long journey, I finally arrived in Noosa.

The flight to Dubai was a dream. I got an upgrade and flew business class instead of economy! I have never been so pampered on a flight before.

Unfortunately, you get used to luxury quickly, so the flight from Dubai to Brisbane, without an upgrade, was not very pleasant.

But even the most unpleasant 13 hours eventually pass, thanks to numerous English movies, and after a 2-hour bus ride with bus driver Robert, who constantly cursed over the radio, I finally arrived at Halse Lodge at 3:00 a.m. local time.

After the weight of my backpack literally knocked me down and I finally found my key after a desperate search, the next challenge was finding my room.

But somehow my key didn't cooperate and I spent what felt like 5 minutes trying to unlock my door. After overcoming the first door, the next one followed... I seriously considered sleeping outside.

When I finally entered the room, I just collapsed onto the nearest bed. I was glad not to have woken anyone up and too tired to look for my pajamas.

So I just slept in my clothes.

The next morning I discovered that all my roommates spoke German, but unfortunately they were also leaving that morning.

I pretty much slept through the next day. In the afternoon, new people arrived, including many Germans.

I still find it very difficult to speak English. Especially because many people in my room speak English very well and it somehow inhibits me. But I hope that'll change.

I finally woke up around 6:00 p.m. and the other Germans and I talked for a long time. But one of the girls is already getting on my nerves... :D

I have to say, I thought I would be much more excited during this whole trip, but I actually feel quite comfortable here.

The next day, we received some instructions for the farm work. We took the bus to the city because we all needed an Australian SIM card.

On the way back, we missed our bus about 5 times and didn't get back to the hostel until 6:00 p.m.

Later, we all cooked and played Taboo in English.

That was really funny!

We're slowly getting used to English as well.

The only thing that's not so great here is the weather. It's really cold and it rains occasionally.

Tomorrow we'll probably go to the national park, hopefully we'll see some koalas!!

The farm program starts on Monday. I'm excited and will report back!
