We just couldn't leave the Pacific, so we continued north on the picturesque The Lakes Way. The bushfires were also raging here until January. The burned forests were a constant companion to us. The masses of rain that followed the fire and the summer temperatures caused nature to literally explode. The result is a surreal sight: black charred trunks framed by abundant lush greenery.
We found our next campsite in Forster, by a river - mosquitoes included. We endured that for two nights. Ines' wish for the following day was a paddle tour on the river. It was relatively quiet here, probably because the flora had not yet returned (except for the mosquitoes 😫). Because here too, everything on both sides of the water had been in flames. A very strange atmosphere here.
To balance things out, in the afternoon we packed our beach bag and drove over to the Pacific. Beautiful... 👙☀️⛱
