A city by the Mediterranean Sea to fall in love with!
In 2013, I spent my first stay for a whole month in this wonderful city. The Catalan metropolis located by the sea attracts over 7 million tourists every year, making it the third most visited city in Europe.
Particularly the architecture, which is heavily influenced by the Gothic style, is popular among both tourists and locals. One very well-known architect was Antoni Gaudí, a native Catalan. One of his most famous and infamous buildings was the Sagrada Família as well as the Park Güell.
But not only the architecture is impressive, but also the people living in this city. The Southern Europeans go through life with a very positive attitude, which quickly rubs off on you. Moreover, they are also very helpful and always open to meeting new people.
Lastly, I was also impressed by the beaches of Barcelona. At that time, I spent a lot of time on the beach promenade of 'Playa de la Barceloneta'. It was very pleasant since I was there in the off-season Sep-Oct and it was not as crowded as in summer.
I can only recommend everyone to go to Barcelona. Flights from Germany are quite cheap and if you book early, you can get very good deals :)
