This morning I had a banana, an apple and some crackers for breakfast. It was actually the first morning that the tent wasn't wet with dew. I packed up as usual and set off. Elisa had only just gotten up, but she is taking a more leisurely approach to the tour, cycling about 60km a day. The start of today's stage was very strenuous, first right next to the Danube on an unpaved road with large potholes and then directly on the dam, practically on the meadow. The signs for "Eurovelo 6" frequently showed that I was still on the right track. Even though it was hard to believe. Later on, a herd of sheep and two donkeys blocked the way. But as we got closer they willingly cleared the way.
Once the path on the dam was over, the route continued mainly on quiet, partly perfectly maintained country roads. The landscape was very colorful with fields of wheat and poppies and a few vines in between.
At lunchtime I took a longer break and caught up on the calories from my meager breakfast. The restaurant was very nicely located, right on the Danube. Afterwards I had my strength back and after about 125km I reached Baja. Here I checked into the Hotel Duna, a very chic hotel. After 3 days in a tent I've earned it again. I'm going to check out the wellness area now!
