In the Flinders Ranges (+ photos from the previous day)

Eldonita: 13.04.2019

We left directly after waking up, as we want to make it to the Flinders Ranges today. The Flinders Ranges are a mountain range that extends over 400 km north of Adelaide through South Australia. The first leg takes us to Kimba. There we have breakfast and admire the huge mural on the grain silos.

The second sprint takes us to Port Augusta, where we stock up on supplies, diesel, and booze (beer, wine, cider). Next, we stop in Hawker, here we gather information about the road conditions in the Flinders Ranges National Park, especially about the gravel roads.

The last leg takes us to our destination for the day: the Rawnsley Park Station. This is a huge sheep farm, with integrated tourist services, which is located south of the Flinders Ranges National Park. The campground there has many very nice sites embedded in nature. Some of them almost give you the feeling of wild camping. From almost all sites, you have a nice view of the southern walls of Wilpena Pound, the most famous mountain range in the Flinders Ranges. After a short walk, where we can watch some kangaroos, we plan the next few days. Blog and photos have to wait because we only have reception here in the campground kitchen. And it's not very good here either.
