During our stay in Addo NP, we will be staying in a spectacular accommodation. One of the best accommodations we've ever had. Our 'nest' is modeled after the dung beetle and can only be reached through a narrow path through the dense bush. It gives us a jungle feeling. A variety of animal sounds surround us, buzzing and crawling everywhere outside. Inside, everything is 'animal-free' and beautifully decorated with attention to detail. In the morning, we even wake up to a cheeky little bird knocking on our door.
We are very impressed by this fascinating idea of immortalizing the dung beetle in architecture. The dung beetle is protected in South Africa, and in Addo Park, we are lucky to observe some dung beetles up close. They may not be particularly beautiful, but they apparently have their place in the animal kingdom.
