Day 26 Brindisi -Gianiskare Beach Sailing in the Ionian Sea

Eldonita: 07.07.2019

Arriving at the port of Brindisi last night, many memories suddenly come alive in me. The many vacations we spent in Greece with our blue VW LT. The hustle and bustle at the port terminal, the many truck drivers probably trying to get the cheapest ticket. They were simply great vacations and yes, at the moment I miss you kids, because you were a part of it. I know that you always enjoyed it too. Not to forget Tanja, Charly, Carolin, and Paul, our friends who were often with us and we spent wonderful holidays with the buses of us eight. When we reached Venice or Ancona and stood at the port full of anticipation, sweaty and with the Chilli Peppers playing in the background, oh, it was beautiful. You kids demand a revival tour. I think we can make it happen. So, back to the present. We chose the deck as our accommodation type. It's only a 17-hour ferry crossing from 9:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The ship is not that big, there are no lounge chairs, no swimming pool as we know it. We pack our backpack with the 2 lightweight chairs and walk onto the deck. As we sat there, I thought, oh man Burki, this will be a damn hard night for you. At 10:00 PM, we finally set off. I looked longingly at our Rudi standing on the open deck. One should always do what one feels like doing. Burki? Let's secretly go down there, I think the access is still open. Brief hesitation.... okay, let's go. When we arrived at the car, we pulled the curtain that separates the front from the rear area and we were already inside. I ducked in the front, while Burki brushed his teeth. And then a pleasant night at sea. Arriving at the intermediate destination of Igoumenitsa at 6:30 in the morning, we miss the opportunity to go out. Okay, then we'll stay until Patras, open the side door, which is difficult to see, have breakfast and wait for the arrival in Patras. Today we are still going to a sand beach we know.
