Nusa Lembongan

Nasi Goreng with Tempe, Sate Ayam or a delicious Balinese curry?

While my dear uncle surely sticks to the classic Swabian food, other readers are surely looking forward to the dinner invitation.

In any case, I would like to say that the cooking class was fun and I hope to master Balinese cuisine soon. Even though it takes a bit more practice.

And what would be the first visit to the Asian continent without a little stomach upset. Since David unfortunately had to experience Bali from the bathroom for several hours, I went to the cooking class alone. Fortunately, he is feeling better now.

Thank goodness, you are picked up and taken back to the accommodation for something like the cooking class. So I was spared driving the scooter 😂. The great thing about traveling is that you are never alone. Even if you spend a day alone, you quickly meet people. You are never alone when traveling!

We have now arrived on Nusa Lembongan and enjoy the peace and quiet here. The island is really small and much more relaxed than Ubud. For my part, 7 nights in Ubud were enough. Of course, it is an experience that I don't want to miss. Nevertheless, I am currently enjoying the peace on the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan. You can explore the island and the neighboring island very relaxed by scooter. Less traffic, relaxed people, and gasoline in plastic bottles. Really, there are no gas stations here. There were also few gas stations in Ubud, as we know them. Sometimes the gas stations also look more like slot machines. But just when I thought it couldn't be topped, there came Nusa Lembongan. The fuel is filled and sold in plastic bottles. Crazy, right? But actually also terrible. There is a lot of poverty here.

When we zip through the country on the scooter, everything is interesting and somehow beautiful for us. On the other hand, I am always aware of how good we have it. Seriously, guys, we should all appreciate what we have much more.

There are people who live with much less, sit in their dilapidated shacks, sell their coconuts every day from morning till evening, have to pay for every medical care themselves, and still give you a big smile back.

Yes, I am still young. But I am learning more and more how important it is to be able to appreciate and be satisfied. That is one of the things I never want to unlearn!

And that a smile can work wonders.

Guys, we are damn lucky!

Let's talk about our accommodation. A dream! We are surrounded by incredibly nice people who make an effort every day!

We will be staying in a bungalow in a beautiful garden complex in Nusa Lembongan for six nights.

Everything is perfectly maintained, the rooms are clean, there are two large pools in front of us, and breakfast once again comes to the balcony. By the way, a dog visits us here every day. She comes every morning for breakfast, lies down next to us, and sleeps. Of course, she has nothing against a piece of bacon. I think she just enjoys not being chased away. And yes, I am aware that there is a risk of rabies here in Bali, or it is higher. But chill, like the way the dog just chills there 🙂.

Every day there is so much fruit or a delicious smoothie. An egg, whether boiled or arranged as an omelet, everything is possible. Or maybe a pancake? For the Swabians among us. A pancake is a kind of pancake 😄

The bread is a disaster, but they can't help it. You can totally forget about bread in Asia. Man, I'm looking forward to a delicious, fresh pretzel! In any case, it is wonderful and every wish is fulfilled. Our laundry is simply picked up, taken to the laundromat, and brought back to our bungalow. Is this available at home too? 😂 By the way, the laundry is still washed by hand here. Hellooo, can someone pinch me?

And all this for a small price.

In the next few days, we will explore the largest island in the area, Nusa Penida. Otherwise, we will enjoy the beautiful beaches and just chill by the pool. By the way, the Indian Ocean is pleasantly warm but still serves as a cooling off. The water is clear and if you're lucky, you can see a manta ray swimming by. (We were lucky).

Less beautiful is the amount of garbage on Bali. The side streets in Ubud were completely littered, sometimes it is the same on beaches or the garbage is simply lying on or next to the paths. Sometimes the garbage is simply burned in the middle of nowhere.

A less beautiful topic. Unfortunately, the waste management doesn't work here in Bali.

Ohh crap, something came to my mind. Lucky topic. I haven't told you yet that we saw Cassowaries in Australia! Or did I keep it a secret?

As I have now learned from many people, this is very very rare. How could I forget that! So let's dive back into the world of Australia. Cassowaries belong to the flightless birds that cannot fly.

Cassowaries only exist in a certain area in Australia. On the drive to a national park, we were lucky and were able to see two of the animals. As always, we observed them a little and quickly realized what extraordinary birds they are.

It's a good thing we only found out afterwards that they are the most dangerous birds in Australia or even the world. Apparently, they can even make the color of your car aggressive 😂 Strange that our colorful Jucy didn't bother them. Take a look at it yourself in the photo. What an animal!

But back to Bali. Guys, we are just enjoying everything here!

See you
