St. Maarten

In the afternoon it was time to chill. As always, we were too tired for any activities. After dinner, we had a nightcap and then went straight to bed. And just like that, it was Wednesday. Our excursion didn't start until 1:15 p.m. so we could take it easy. Sleeping in and having a stress-free breakfast. We didn't disembark until after 1 p.m. and our e-bike excursion was delayed at first. We cycled along the main road of Philipsburg. The ride took us to the famous airplane beach of St. Maarten. The takeoffs were more impressive than the landings. When a larger plane took off, there were such strong shockwaves that everything on the beach, including hats, towels, bike helmets, and even people, were blown away. Some people were lying on their stomachs in the sand to protect themselves. After the airplane beach, we leisurely headed back to the ship. We made several stops along the way to take pictures. One of them was right at the border between France and the Netherlands, which divides the island. Our stop on a hill where the pelicans had their nests was also impressive. St. Maarten is definitely worth a visit. We were back on the ship around 6:30 p.m. First, we took a shower, and then Nick Taylor and the Robs played in the theater. The theme for dinner today was Caribbean. The ship set sail at around 10 p.m., and we went back to bed.
